It's Animation is dedicated to the art of the animated film. It aims to raise awareness of the rich history of this versatile medium and its creative exponents. The website is designed to complement the book ANIMATION IN THE NETHERLANDS. It features full colour images from the book plus many extras: film stills, photographs, drawings, storyboards, short films and trailers. It also gives limited access to a database containing over 1.800 Dutch animation film titles. Together, the book and the website form an indispensable resource for animation film enthusiasts and film researchers.

About me

Hi, I'm Ton Gloudemans – creator of this website and an independent scholar based in Amsterdam. I studied Theatre, Film and Television Studies at Utrecht University, where I graduated in 1984 with a thesis on animation film. Over the years, I've published extensively on Dutch animation, including monographs on Gerrit van Dijk and Paul Driessen (with Marc Glassman), and co-edited the Holland Animation Bulletin and NOS programme ANIMATIE (with Piet Kroon ). I've curated masterclasses at the Holland Animation Film Festival (with Gerben Schermer) and advised the Netherlands Film Fund regarding submitted animation projects. My academic career covers lectureships at Utrecht University and a tenure at Inholland University of Applied Sciences as lecturer, educational designer and IT-policy advisor.
